Your association is here to support dental hygienists throughout their career and advance the profession by developing new career paths, expanding opportunities for care, and providing the latest education and information.
You can reap the benefits of membership on three different levels:
National:
ADHA is advocating for the profession at the highest levels to make sure our interests are represented in legislation and public policy.
State:
State associations connect you with education, advocacy and licensure details to assist in keeping you current and compliant.
Local:
WDHA in your community supports you with actions and activities that make a difference for patients and the practice right where you live.
ADHA/WDHA is happy to lavish our members with benefits such as free/discounted CE and discounts to various different companies. However, most of our members are here not for the discounts, but for something much larger. Below you can read what some members say about why they have chosen to be a part of their professional association and then take a minute to peruse all the information WDHA can provide for you to explore your benefits.
“I'm technically a member of the Idaho association, but I work in Washington and attend WDHA events pretty often! I joined because I was required to in school. I actually had no idea what it was and felt confused whenever my teachers talked about it. I remain a member 12 years later because now I understand how crucial it is to have my profession advocated for by a large group of representatives. Not to mention, the comradery and opportunity for new experiences.”
- Jennifer Adams
“My membership means the world to me! It is the voice of our profession! The association does so much to advocate for us and protect us and it is an honor to be a part of it!! 🦷 Beyond that the CE courses, networking, and lifelong friends are invaluable.”
- Sarah Jackson
“My membership connected me with the most amazing professionals that have become dear friends. I am proud & honored to have served with hygienists that have & still fight hard to establish rules/laws/ & opportunities that all other states work to achieve. Your starting wage & practice act & due to this membership. Thanks WSDHA!”
- Heidi Peters
“I’m a member because it’s a great way to give back to a profession that has been good to me!”
- Carol Johnston
"I became a member as a student at Shoreline Community College because it was a requirement. 41 years later I am still an active member. I am proud of my profession, I am proud to be a health advocate for my patients. I am an Oral Healthcare Provider with also the name of Dental Hygienist. WDHA and ADHA have provided a wealth of CE opportunities and discounts on insurance. My association has represented me in lobbying for autonomy. They set the bar for professionalism by being good examples. I am a member of my association because it is my responsibility to support the profession that represents ME!"
- Fran Carey
"I am a member of the WDHA and ADHA to keep the profession of dental hygiene advancing and relevant in a fast-growing, and ever-changing field. I care about my professional organization standing up to make sure we are working in a safe and ethical environment while allowing for dental hygienists to improve and use our full scope of practice. My WDHA membership means I am connected with wonderful women and men by making friendships along the way. Without our WSDHA and ADHA memberships, our profession may not exist. I respect and want to keep paying my organization to make it work for me and every hygienist in Washington State and to enjoy this wonderful profession that we've worked so hard to achieve."
- Shelby Case
