Course Description
Peninsula Component and Kitsap Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery have continued their years long
partnership to offer a bimonthly oral pathology continuing education series to local dental hygienists. Each
continuing education course reviews a chapter of Leslie Delong and Nancy W. Burkhart’s enhanced 3rd
edition of “General and Oral Pathology for the Dental Hygienist.”
Series Learning Objectives
1.) Recognize the most diagnostic clinical features of oral soft tissue diseases
2.) Become accustomed to commonly used terms to describe oral mucosal lesions
3.) Understand diagnostic and treatment options available for oral soft tissue diseases and follow up
maintenance protocols
4.) Increase your knowledge of the importance the dental hygienist plays in detection of oral soft tissue
diseases and patient support/education
Speaker Information
Kitsap OMS’s Oral Surgeon team consists of Dr. Tom Curran DDS, Dr. Douglas Baasch DDS, MD, Dr.
Paul Greenawalt DDS, and Dr. Sukhdeep Dhaliwal DDS, MD FACS. Kitsap OMS recognizes the
importance of the dental hygienist’s role in identifying oral lesions through extra and intraoral
assessments.
