Dental Therapy Bills Introduced for 2017

by Colleen Gaylord

Dental therapy bills are now introduced before the Legislature. Senate Bill 5224 and House Bill 1364 contain new language for 2017 requiring graduation from a CODA accredited educational institution. Click the links below to view the bills.

The first hearing has been scheduled before the House Health Care Committee on Friday, January 27. The House and Senate bills are identical.

The Washington Dental Access Campaign will lobby on January 27th. CLICK HERE for a Fact Sheet on Dental Therapists.

Also attached is a link to testimony given this month in North Dakota arguing the crucial facts about dental therapy alongside objections to dental therapy -

"Objections to dental therapy range from the clumsy to the creative and are riddled with cavities."
